Scilla has a centuries-old tradition of swordfish hunting in the Strait of Messina. Fishermen still use traditional "passerelle" — tall lookout towers on boats — to spot the fish. The annual Sagra del Pesce Spada celebrates this heritage with fresh swordfish prepared every possible way.
