The Lungomare Falcomata is Reggio Calabria's stunning seafront promenade, stretching for over a kilometer along the Strait of Messina. The Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio called it "the most beautiful kilometer in Italy" — and it's hard to argue.
What to See
Walk along the promenade with views of Mount Etna and Sicily across the strait. At sunset, the light plays tricks creating the famous "Fata Morgana" mirage. Along the way you'll find Art Nouveau buildings, sculptures, exotic plants, and several cafes.
